This session addresses the economics of expanding energy access and affordability while advancing energy efficiency and regional integration, drawing on experiences from Latin America and other emerging regions. Discussions will focus on electricity and gas interconnections, cross-border trade, rural electrification, demand-side efficiency, and policy instruments to reduce energy poverty. The session highlights how institutional design, regional cooperation, and targeted public policies in Latin America offer practical lessons relevant to other regions facing similar development and transition challenges.
