Energy research plays an increasingly important role in informing public policy, business strategy, technological innovation, and international cooperation. At the same time, the environment in which young researchers build their careers has become more interdisciplinary, international, and impact-oriented.

This opening session explores how graduate students and early-career researchers can position themselves for successful careers across academia, government, industry, and international organizations. Panelists will share personal experiences and practical advice on building research agendas, developing professional networks, collaborating across disciplines, and navigating the first stages of a research career.
